About the Author
'If novelists need life experiences to draw on for their work, John Keeman isn't in short supply. He has had 37 jobs, from coal man to law lecturer, and enough anecdotes for an entertaining autobiography never mind a work of fiction.' - The Glasgow Times
Born on Glasgow's Finnieston Street and raised in the surrounding area, John Keeman now lives in Irvine. Few could deserve a relaxing retirement more: from barman, to long distance lorry driver, to college lecturer, to a long stint at the BBC Radio Helpline, it seems John's tried everything once. Still, his retirement sees him busy writing and researching, unearthing the unlikely tale of American heavyweight boxer Jack Johnson's connection to a masonic lodge in Dundee and the story of a Scotsman upon whom the iconic Rhett Butler from Gone with the Wind is based. His first novel, The Italian Connection, was published in 2015 and his upcoming memoir, In the Shadow of the Crane is now available for pre-order from Ringwood Publishers.
